About Daagh Dehlvi
Nawab Mirza Khan Daagh Dehlvi was the last great master of the Delhi school of Urdu poetry, a poet of extraordinary wit, romantic intensity, and technical mastery. Born in Delhi in 1831, he was a student of Zauq and later became the teacher of Allama Iqbal. His ghazals are marked by their playfulness, their sensuality, and a command of the language that made him the most popular poet of his age. He spent his later years at the court of the Nizam of Hyderabad, where he died in 1905, leaving behind a body of work that defined the romantic ghazal for generations.
